Visit to the United Nations, Geneva – 27 January 2026

The Director of Europe Business Assembly (EBA) visited the United Nations in Geneva to participate in a series of high-level bilateral international meetings and to attend the session of the Universal Periodic Review (UPR) Working Group at the General Assembly Hall.

The Universal Periodic Review is a unique mechanism of the Human Rights Council that requires each UN Member State to undergo a peer review of its human rights record every 4.5 years.

The UPR provides each State with the opportunity to regularly:

•  - Report on the actions taken to improve the human rights situation in the country and to address challenges to the full enjoyment of human rights;
•  - Receive recommendations for continuous improvement from UN Member States, informed by multi-stakeholder input and pre-session reports.

The visit highlights the active involvement and contribution of the Europe Business Assembly to the strategic goals of the United Nations. The EBA community remains committed to advancing economic and social development, with a particular focus on developing and emerging countries.
