The Bank, Vibor Bikash Bank was established in October 4, 2007 as a National Level Development Bank, with a paid up capital of equivalent to USD 6.4 million. Later the capital was enhanced to USD 9.17 million after the merger with another Finance Company in Nepal. Another merger was completed recently on September 02, 2016, with a national level development bank named Society Development Bank Ltd. Making the total paid capital at USD 18.2 million. Thus the new name is changed as Vibor Society Development Bank Ltd., after the merger date. The main function of the bank is collection of deposits from various sources including general public, various institutions and small financial institutions and; providing loans and advances mainly to general public with special focus on deprived and marginalized people as well as developmental activities. Besides its main focus in deposits and credit activities, it also provides various other services such as: remittance, foreign exchange, safe deposit lockers etc. The Bank VSDBL was promoted by few hundred individual which, now comprises of more than fifty thousand shareholders including the public ones. The shareholding pattern is 51:49 promoters and public respectively. It has a reach in almost 30% territory of the country through 42 branches and 1 extension counter. We are in the process of opening atleast seven more branches making total number at 50. We have a total number of 450 staff working for the organization. The head office of the bank is situated in Kathmandu and two regional offices are set up one each in eastern region and western region of the country. We have gone through ups and down and made the bank an example of success reviving it and recapitalizing it. Because of our constant efforts we now proudly claim that our Bank VSDBL is the biggest development bank in Nepal in terms of paid up capital. Likewise we are the largest bank in terms of branch net work in Nepal. With the next nine months we aim to further enhance our paid up capital to minimum USD 25.0 million and becoming the largest as well as biggest development bank of Nepal from all aspects.
