Description

The Groupe de Recherche Action en Santé (GRAS) is a private biomedical research institute established since 2008 under Burkina Faso law. It holds an accreditation from the Ministry of high education, Science and Technology, and is well embedded in the ecosystem of health research both at national and international level. Its portfolio of partners includes Academia, Pharmaceutical Companies, governmental agencies, and Non-governmental Organizations.

 

GRAS as a pioneering institute, ambitions to be a pole of excellence in health research, committed in delivering high quality scientific outputs which could influence lives saving policy decisions.

To achieve that, the founder and management team have put in place a scientifically stimulating working environment with state-of-the-art well-equipped laboratories and offices where enthusiastic, highly skilled, multidisciplinary, and experienced researchers (trained at highest level such as MD, PharmD, PhD, MSc degrees) are dealing with health-related problems in a transdisciplinary approach. 

 

The institute is currently conducting several research programs on infectious diseases (such as malaria, enteric diseases, schistosomiasis, SARS-CoV-2, etc.) heavily affecting people in disadvantaged countries, focusing in evaluating new drugs and vaccines, testing new deliveries strategies of effective interventions, etc. The flexibility of its management structure make it able to quickly adapt to emerging threats such as the recent COVID-19 pandemic. GRAS Labs serve also as central lab for clinical trial being conducted in several African countries.

As quality is at the heart of the research work at GRAS, the Institute is engaged in ISO 9001 version 2015 accreditation process, and the research labs are affiliated to external quality control programs both in Africa and the United States of America.
