St. Jonh Paul II Specialist Hospital of the Ministry of Interior and Administration in Głuchołazy is a modern, specialized and well-equipped medical center with diagnostic and rehabilitation facilities. The high position of the hospital on the medical market is the result of several dozen years of experience in the field of treatment, rehabilitation and prevention of respiratory as well as cardiovascular diseases.

The body which is responsible for the hospital is the Minister of the Interior. At the beginning of its existence, shortly after the Second World War, the facility consisted only of sanatorium, which was established to combat tuberculosis epidemic. Currently, the hospital organizes and carries out didactic and research activities and provides health services, including the implementation of new medical technologies and treatment methods. To cope with the changing reality, the Hospital in Głuchołazy as the first in Europe, created a Rehabilitation Center after COVID-19 and developed a proprietary pilot programme of therapeutic rehabilitation after SARS-CoV-2 infection. The program aims at reducing complications, improving physical and cardiovascular efficiency, improving respiratory fitness, muscle strength, overall physical fitness, as well as supporting patients’ mental health. The program includes convalescents, helping them return to full fitness and overcome the effects of the disease, with the aim of eliminating complications and reducing the risk of disability. Clinical observations of the pilot programme indicate the legitimacy and effectiveness of its implementation. They also indicate the needs of rehabilitation not only of elderly people, but also of younger generations, who are often in their prime and professionally active, but have symptoms related to weakness and anxiety. The stationary rehabilitation programme after COVID-19 is in line with the goals of a general rehabilitation, which should lead to full recovery. The hospital is focused on continuous development that includes purchasing the most modern equipment and modernizing its facility. Systematic modernization of individual hospital wards is carried out in accordance with the new trends in hospitality, so that the hospital fulfills its therapeutic functions and, above all, is a patient-friendly place. One of the main elements distinguishing it on the medical market is the accreditation and the implementation of the  quality management system compliant with the ISO standard.
