Prof. dr hab.n.med. Janusz Kowalewski – Director is a specialist in general and thoracic surgery. From 2000. works at the Oncology Center in Bydgoszcz as the Coordinator of the Department of Thoracic Surgery and Tumors. In 2008, the President of the Republic of Poland awarded him the title of professor of medical sciences, and on October 1, 2012 he was appointed full professor at the Department and Clinic of Thoracic Surgery and Cancer at Collegium Medicum in Bydgoszcz. Author of 104 publications in the field of thoracic and cardiac surgery and oncology (IF: 137, citations 676). He is a member of the Society of Polish Surgeons, the Society of Cardio-Thoracic Surgeons, the European Society of Thoracic Surgeons (ESTS) and the European Society of Heart and Thoracic Surgery (EACTS). From 2004 to 2007 he was a member of the Board of the Polish Society of Cardio-Thoracic Surgeons.

He received the Team Award of the Minister of Science and Higher Education and the Medal of the President of the City of Bydgoszcz (for special services for the city of Bydgoszcz).

Our Center is regularly verified, and the level of our services is guaranteed with each accreditation extension. In 2019, the Oncology Center was once again accredited, meeting 91% of the accreditation standards.
