History The municipality of Bogovinje, which is one of the youngest municipalities in the Republic of Macedonia, has been in the present borders since 2006, when the former communes, Bogovinje and Kamjan were joined. It includes the northwestern part of the Republic of Macedonia, the left side of the Vardar River and the Polog valley below the base of Sharr Mountain. The municipality has a surface of 143,44 km2, at an altitude of 460 to 1,150 m. In it, distributed in sixteen settlements, according to the last census, live 28,997 inhabitants, mostly ethnic Albanians, in coexistence with few inhabitants, Macedonians and Turks. Socio
